Last year I was awaiting two new SuperHero games, Brave New World and The DC Universe RPG. I recieved BNW in the mail and thought it was great, except for one small thing: it was more or less Deadlands but with supers. This wouldn't have been a problem except I was running a Deadlands campaign at the time and it seemed a little too similar. I chose to go with DC because it took place in a world that was only a comic book away and it would allow my players to convert their characters from the Batman RPG over to this. DC is great and I love it BUT... character creation takes TIME. Last week we were missing a player so we decided to make different characters for a one-shot adventure. Three players... it took about six hours. It took so long that once the characters were made it was past 1am so we decided to call it a night without even playing.
I've been thinking about how I've been running my DC game and realized that much of what I'm doing is already present in BNW. I have all the books for BNW... I think maybe it's time I them. My players won't have comic books to read and see what's happening in the city they're in, but I think in the end BNW will win them over.
Thanks Matt for making a great game..
