Hmmmm...
I have a few points where homosexuality and gaming are NOT the same:
1. You can't get AIDS or other STDs from gaming.
2. I haven't seen a single 'Glory Hole' in any WOTC product (maybe they're in White Wolf, but I don't buy that shit...)
3. Oprah has never kissed any gamer's ass on her show (I may have missed an episode or two - so correct me if you've seen this.)
4. You seldom require lubricants in RPGs.
5. Most RPG systems never require someone to sell out their personal
identity to participate.
6. I have never seen gamers take the mantle of 'activist' and whine
over every slight or percieved injustice. ( If you think being a
homo is rough, try being a racial minority or a handicapped person - then maybe you'll understand what adversity truly is.)
Personally, I think your article was sheer masturbation. Anyone can make flimsy comparison (you could write an article about the similarities between breakfast cereals and gamers, for example.
I'd say what you need to concern yourself with is reality, and your severe unattachment from it. Perhaps you spend too much time roleplaying to realize such 'pop-psychology' can possibly be the undoing of our society. RPGs are just that - games! Lighten up, and quit burning-out everyone's braincells on such nonsense.
