Another group often charged with escapism is readers of
fantasy and SF. (A group with lots of overlap with RPers.)
This charge goes a long way back. Somewhere in the 1940s or
'50s, J. R. R. Tolkien and C. S. Lewis were talking about
it, and Tolkien asked Lewis, "What group do you think would
naturally be most preoccupied with, and most hostile to,
the idea of escape?"

Jailers, of course.
