Here's a question which may be of only marginal interest to anyone but GW fanboys, but I have been a fan of the Warhammer game Necromunda ever since it came out, and it has a continuing following, even though it is now only minimally supported by Games Workshop (through its Fanatic Press).
Though it is not an RPG, it has a number of RPG-like aspects, and a
number of people have tried to make it more like a role-play game. A
few years ago, there was a web site with rules for the game based on the Warhammer Fantasy Role-Play (WFRP) system, I have seen people try to translate it into GURPS, and on the Warhammer Miniatures Newsgroup, they were recently discussing it as possible to translate into the d20
system. Or, currently, I myself am involved in a short game where our
GM is just using the straight Necromunda rules, but we're each playing
individuals, rather than the gangs as the game is designed for.
Naturally, this game isn't much more than an urban nightmare
dungeon-crawl, since there are few skills relating to anything but
combat.
Anyway, I wondered what your thoughts are about the best way to
translate from one a combat sim to an RPG, either generally, or
specifically for Necromunda.
