Complaining about a good book being TOO long is, not putting too fine a point on it, STUPID. Writing for the sake of hearing yourself type is pointless but if the author has something to say and needs the space...then use it. Another point, publishers say, "Mr. Herbert we need a book with a 700 page count, for which we will give you X amount of dollars." Publishers are strange on this point...they WANT 700 pages...go figure.
