Fantasy realms and the suspension of belief

Having been to Germany, France, England, Italy, Greece, and Turkey to name a few and (being the history buff) visited numerous medieval castles and ruins thereof, I have to say that it really does help my suspension of belief to see some elements of Medieval culture and architecture in games. Then again, I'm also the kind of person who likes realism in setting. Even if the characters are running at full speed with no penalty through underbrush that would take a flamethrower to clear, I can write that off as cinematic if the setting is done well. For example, ever notice that nearly every road leading to a castle has the castle on its right hand side? It's because your right hand is your weapon hand, not your shield hand, so if you move up the road against the castle, you'll be exposed to arrow fire. Even if there's no game effect, the setting effect helps my mind think its more... real.
