I liked your one-shot here---with serial numbers suitably filed, I'll probably steal it---but...
A few quick questions:
What year is this supposed to be set in or around? You used the term "New York Territory", which implies almost an early-colonial period, rather than the wild west era. Additionally, I'm curious as to why the sheriff might think the barmaid was posessed; although superstition was pretty common in the old West (up to the present day, some might argue), this doesn't seem like the sort of thing that would warrant the majesty and power of the law stepping in.
To be fair, it's obviously just a framework to start from, so this isn't as big a deal if it was supposed to be, say, a full-length adventure, but I would like to know.
