Howdy,
I am just having problem getting to the basics with this system. I find the PDFs a little longwinded, and a struggle to read.
Could someone give a simple explanation of the mechanic in use for the following simple situation:
How does Pinto climb a tree? Lets say that the tree is tricky to climb and he is doing it on a whim.
The equivalent explanation for D20 would be:
1. The DM decides that the target number for climbing the trick tree
is 15.
2. The character playing Pinto rolls 1D20, adds his Dexterity Ability modifier (DEX of 11 is +0), and the number of Ranks in his climbing skill (in this case 2).
3. THe roll is an 8. Adding 2 for a total of 10. This is less than the target number so Pinto fails.
Cheers
