I forgot to mention in my other post, thus far I really like your column. Theme is a subject too often ignored. I also think your writing style is eloquent but stated plainly enough to not be pretentious (a quality I often lack.)
One question... What exactly does this theme mean?
"Gold, God, and Glory."
I just couldn't understand it.
Also, I feel themes can be further simplified often into one word, with the words "the nature of" assumed before them. This leads to themes such as anger, vengeance, curiosity (and consequences), and many others.
I look forward to the next installment of your column, and I hope you explore many more of the staples of fiction, and how it relates to RPGs. Also, I appreciate the examples! I'm a bit of a list fiend.
