My Eberron PCs rebelled against their first patron. He had a tragic past and had turned evil while several of the PCs embraced religion and become even more good.
At first I was annoyed that I had to chuck the patron I had established. But as this column points out, PCs like to rebel and in this case they were right to do so.
They haven't gone after their former patron or vice versa (in Eberron, simple good vs. evil does not permit murder) but he hasn't forgotten them. A nice clash with a surprise ending and a chance to redeem their former patron is on the way.
A good column that offers some insight into what could be seen as otherwise annoying PC habits. In fact, that insurrection may be just what the players and the campaign need.
