 Interesting approach, but...

I have very little interest in bog-standard fantasy, but I was interested in your graphs. That's a clever and non-intuitive way to find interesting ideas, and should be used more often!

On the other hand... your criteria for ruling races out seem very limited. I got the impression that you were basing all of the races on the standard D&D versions of these creatures -- but you know, creatures like "ogre" and "elf" and "troll" are a lot older than D&D and there's a lot more interesting possibilities there. Just look at RuneQuest, with its talking-plant elves, rocklike trolls, humanoid anthropophagic ogres and DragonNewts, which are a weird and wonderful twist on Lizard Men.

For that matter, look at Burning Wheel and The Shadow of Yesterday for very cool and very different takes on elves, orcs, goblins, ratmen, etcetera.

So two cheers, and thank you for another interesting article.
