As a general rule, I dislike game fiction. This is mostly because so much of it is so bad, but also, is tends to feel very artificial without evoking the roleplaying experience. Very rarely do you hear players or GMs talking or acting like the characters from game fiction.
Game art, on the other hand, shows us the setting and the characters in action. For me, nothing invokes the mood and tone of a game more than its art. I would rather see a picture of the battle than a 400-word story of it.
