I really liked this article. In fact I have printed it out and added it to the GM binder for my current campaign. As you suggested, some of it is old hat, but some of your ideas made me think "Hey, I might want to try that" I'll bring it up with the group.
3 things in particular struck me as different from the way we usually do things, and a potential improvement:
The audience never misses out on important things.
Stir your players, not their characters.
Don't be afraid to step out of character and say, "This scene rocks!"
I almost never describe a scene to the players that the characters don't witness, but assuming I made it clear to them what I was doing, and they like the idea, it might be fun. The "audience" would miss less, and be more familiar with the game world, potentially enjoying it more. So I think i'll try it.
Same with #2, intentially aiming stuff at the players is something I might want to do more of too.
Finally only one player steps OOC to comment on cool stuff, and it never adversely impacts the game, the rest of us should feel free to do so as well.
Anyway, tha article was a fun read, and I intend to try out a few new thing as a result of it. If they make the game more fun I will keep doing them.
