talking about footnote #2 as to us being inside of an eggshell is very similar to the spelljammer campaign setting from 2nd edition d and d.. a great tie in for recent publishings like "dragonstar", or any current modern or farther in advance game would easily incorporate into any other genre by separating each "universe" into one of these bubbles. It would justify parallell universes as well-- being able to "break out of the universs egg" would allow for interdimensional travel-- or allow cthulu mythos to spill into it.
