I haven't seen UA but I do like the sound of the Madness Meter. In regards to D&D alignment, it sounds like a complicated way of going about it. I would have thought a simpler method would be to use Pendragon personality traits instead. That way, a Chaotic Good character could be measured, for example, as Lawful 4/Chaotic 16, Good 16/Evil 4. Neutral characters would be closer to 10/10 in each score. Changes in behaviour would result in checks against the appropriate score, eg. evil actions would result in a check against Evil. At the end of the session the actions leading to the check could result in Good 15/Evil 5 and progress from there. Pendragon uses 16+/4- as extreme scores but I would probably work towards 9-12 as a neutral value.
