Sandy's Soapbox #164: 720 Remixes on Next Gen RPGing: the Teaser

Sandy's Soapbox
The essence of a remix is to create a new take using old materials. A remix differs from a random mix in that the remix must impose structure. Remixing is strong in crafting/Make communities, in cultures such as Steampunk, and of course in music. RPGs can slug it out with classical music as to which is the original remix culture.

English classes teach that each paragraph should transition to the next. What if the next is unknown? Can a column remix itself?

Today, you can visit 720 different takes on the same topic. There is no particular reason a column needs to live at one particular location, any more than an author need be restricted to one forum. So pop open one of 720 Remixes about gateway RPGs, CRPG design, and what makes a game immersive. Each time you click the 'try a remix' link, you'll get a new take on the subject.

Until next month,
Sandy
