Sandy's Soapbox
This is more than a fanfic exercise. Matching any character to their Olympian nature, much like taking a 'Which Star Wars character are you', is akin to doing a Myers-Briggs test to indicate your psychological type.
What differentiates this Olympian test is that the Olympians are predicated not just on their nature, but their flaw. Each has a fatal flaw. One definition of the difference between gaming and role-playing is that, in role-playing, you emphasize your flaws as much as your skills.
So what is your nature? I looked at dozens of "Who is your Olympian parent" quizzes, the one I liked most was this Olympian test, sample question: Out of these, which appeals to you the most? a tough man/woman, a snake, beauty, a freakin' sweet car, a pomegranate, olives, hammer, wine.. Subtle, eh?
Instead, here's a briefing of the gods (Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Ares, Hermes, Hephaestus, Aphrodite, Athena, Apollo, et cetera). And here's our Archie matchup.
| Character | Olympian parent |
| Archie | Hermes |
| Veronica | Zeus |
| Betty | Athena |
| Jughead | Dionysus |
| Moose | Ares |
| Midge | Aphrodite |
| Reggie | Aphrodite |
| Mr Lodge | Hades |
| Mrs Cooper | Demeter |
Do you disagree? Think Jughead is a secret child of Athena instead? That Reggie is more Hermes (trickster) than Aphrodite (vanity)? Betty labors under the same hindrance as Hephaestus (a crafter, but often ignored)? Comment in the forum below!
Indeed, there are two lessons you can take from this. First, there is no fictional crossover too silly for me to plumb. And second, for good roleplaying, always play to your flaws. It's more fun.
Until next month,
Sandy
